T-Bone Walker/B.B. King – Monterey – 1967 – Past Daily Morning Soundbooth

Monterey
T-Bone Walker – Monterey Summit Meeting.

T-Bone Walker and B.B. King – Monterey Jazz Festival – September 16, 1967 – Voice Of America – Gordon Skene Sound Collection –

Another rarity this morning – T-Bone Walker and B.B. King together on stage at the 1967 Monterey Jazz Festival, recorded for posterity by The Voice Of America on September 16, 1967. BTW, this was the ’67 JAZZ festival, not Pop Festival.

An all-star occasion with, in addition to Walker and King, guest luminaries Illinois Jacquet on sax, Lloyd Glenn on piano, Melvin Moore on trumpet, Duke Jethro on organ and Jesse Price and Sonny Freeman on drums (Price on the T-Bone portion of the set and Freeman on the King portion of the set).

Definitely a memorable occasion for all.

. . .and BB King brought Lucille.

Turn this one up and invite Tuesday in to sit and chill.

As you probably know by now, Past Daily has been going through a few changes. Over the past several months we’ve been introducing new features and losing old ones. We’ve begun to run ads, only because we really need the income in order to stay online and hope this isn’t a problem. Of course, if you consider subscribing and becoming a Patron via Patreon, you get the posts ad-free and the option to download all the audio we post here – our way of saying thank you for your support and to help you build your own archive. Joining Patreon is easy and we’ve made it even easier for you by offering you a free trial to kick the tires, as it were. All you have to do is click on the red box just below, the one that says Become A Patron, and be part of the family. You can support us one time or forever; your choice.
