Pedalo – Glasgow – 2025 – Past Daily Night Session

Pedalo
Pedalo – Scottish Indie never had it so good.

Pedalo in session for BBC Scotland’s Introducing program, recorded January 31.

Pedalo are one of those bands who have gotten an incredible amount of good press and following since they got started in 2022.

Drawing on an eclectic melting pot of influences, Pedalo have gained momentum with sold out shows around Scotland at venues including: The Poetry Club (SWG3), Nice N Sleazy, The Old Hairdressers, The Tooth & Claw and Sneaky Pete’s. As well as this the group have made a number of festival appearances including King Tut’s Summer Nights and New Year’s Revolution, Crowded Flat & SMC’s House Guest, and Tenement TV’s Tenement Trail. Throughout these appearances, Pedalo have shared the stage with notable acts such as Vona Vella, Loupe, and Swiss Portrait.

On the 23rd of November 2024, Pedalo released their debut EP – Migration. Migration explores the transition into adulthood when someone leaves home for the first time. The songs address an array of topics including changing relationship dynamics, growing apart from old friends, mental health and body image, and the stresses of coming of age in an era where an obsessively self-curated online image has become the norm.

The EP’s lead single Mystery was released in January of 2024, exploring the anxiety of growing apart from loved ones whilst maturing. Following a sold-out single launch at Glasgow’s Nice ‘N’ Sleazy, Pedalo wasted no time getting back in the studio, where they would record Lighter. The indie-shoegaze/dreampop anthem tackles themes of body image, conveying the damage that can be inflicted on one’s relationships when struggling to maintain the facade of perfection. The stirring yet catchy single saw another successful launch gig at Sneaky Pete’s, earning Pedalo their first sold-out show in Edinburgh. Continually refining their sound whilst reflecting on their wider influences, Pedalo embarked on their first self-produced project during the summer. With the track Interlude, Pedalo take their sound more of an art rock direction, and hint at their classical influences. With the atmosphere for the EP firmly established, Pedalo finalized the fourth and fifth tracks Something Real and Never You, channeling themes of derealisation and depicting that relatable feeling of dissatisfaction when meeting someone new in wake of a broken relationship.

To celebrate the release of Migration, Pedalo took to another iconic Glasgow venue, Stereo, on the 23rd of November 2024. After their success selling out their previous self-promoted single launches, they decided to take on the task again, enlisting local talent Ryan Harley and Raff as support acts. Footage captured at the Stereo show will feature in Pedalo’s upcoming music video release for Never You, which has been frequently spun on BBC Introducing in Scotland.

Migration was written and performed by Pedalo, and recorded at Castle of Doom studios by Jamie Holmes. Interlude was recorded at the University of Glasgow by Calum Steel. The Never You music video was shot and directed by Daniel Blakefield.
